BIO
Born on August 23rd in the Islands of Bermuda Stephen 'Stevie Dread' Burrows first emerged on the entertainment scene with a
cameo appearance in a Colgate toothpaste commercial. From then he knew it would be lights, cameras and show business!
Raised along with his sister Krystle, by his mother and grandmother in Somerset in the western end of Bermuda, he was exposed to
a free spirited country lifestyle. It was there and then that his soul and vibration were born.
While attending Somerset Primary and Beulah Tabernacle Church, this love for music and melody was fostered. Spending much of his
time as a youth fishing, it was during these times songs would be created.
After graduating from Warwick Secondary High School and studying music selecting and sound system operating under the watchful
eye of Wyld Fyah Sound System owner and Operator Collin 'Humble Ire' Christopher, it was off to Jamaica for Stevie, where a visit
to Tuff Gong Recording Studio would be a key factor in his emergence. It was there, at Tuff Gong, that most of the early recordings
were tracked. While continuing to travel to Jamaica and also the continual spiritual growth as a Rastafarian, his path was then
unshakably directed.
On returning to Bermuda, being inspired by the exposre to Tuff Gong Recording Studio, Stevie was compelled to open a small record
shop and recording studio, "Touch Tone Studio," with a life-long friend Giani Fenaroli from his home in the White Hill area of Bermuda.
It would be there that most of the material would be written and rehearsed, as it is still up and running to this day. The first single
"Just Reality" was produced on the Touch Tone Studio Label in the early 90s, co-produced by Bussy Dread and Chriffa, that topped the UK
Underground circuit.
With a name now and a unique sound, Stevie began to perfor island-wide, opening for every major international reggae act to visit the rock
from Beres Hammond to Gyptian, being recognized by talent scout and promoter of Culture Shock Productions Kieth Simmons. Stevie, along with
his life-long friend and hype man Torro, was able to able to do his first major international show, Culture Meets Lover's Rock in Ft. Lauderdale,
Florida USA where they opened the show in front of 6000 fans and blazed the stage with a sound never heard before from a reggae artiste from the
Caribbean, sharing the same stage with some of the most iconic names in reggae such as Sanchez, John Holt and Freddie McGreggor.
Being so deeply involved in the writing and production of the tracks, Stevie decided it was time to revitalize his efforts and enrolled at SAE
Institute in NYC, where he graduated with a certificate in Audio Engineering, giving him a greater ability to design his unique style and sound
not only as an artiste but also as a song writer and producer for himself and for other artistes. Working with producer Vincent "Cat Marley" Grant
has afforded Stevie the opportunity to work with some of the legends in the business in their own respective element, from Dean Fraser to Horsemouth
Wallace, Chinna Smith, Errol Brown and Clieve Hunt, jut to name a few.. Producing tracks with Shane Brown, Danny Axe Man, Detrimental Donal and Craig
of I-Vibes has also given the artiste a sound that hasn't since thus far been heard, with a blend of Roots and Culture, Lover's Rock, Soul, and the
expression of a Wailer, Stevie Dread is undoubtedly a classic and a name to watch.
Travelling extensively from NYC to Trinidad, England to Amsterdam, Ghana to Ethiopia to promote his music, Stevie Dread continues to knock hard
on the door of success. Whether performing, record, or producing, he is always in some form current and relative. Now with the brand new release
of his debut album 'Part to Play' on the verge of explosion, i would be a god time to begin to support and follow the eclipse of this soon to be
recognized world phenomenon, Stevie Dread!!
